Full-time

Digital (Brand) Designer

Design the most beautiful brand motivated websites and apps

About the job

Being a Digital Brand Designer
As a digital (brand) designer at Yummygum you help shape the visual look and feel of brands, as well as the collateral that comes with those brands. You make sure every digital product we make looks beautiful, usable and translates the mission of our clients.
You’ll spend your day picking up tasks in Linear and getting down and dirty in Figma, on paper or in an Adobe tool like Illustrator or After Effects. And of course meme’ing around on Slack. You’re in close contact with our UX squad and clients to ask them for input and what they’re all share new designs.

Designing and creating brands is your core, but equally important are the digital products that come along. And we mean digital product in the broadest sense of the word. They can be websites, slide decks or billboards for example. But also more utilitarian products such as web apps or mobile apps.

For those digital products you help set up and maintain Design Systems. And at Yummygum we like to organize our files in a pragmatic way, for yourself and your colleagues.
Together with the rest of the Branding team and Visual Design team it’s your duty to turn nothing into something. That entails sensing the right tone of voice. But there’s also a lot of ‘getting to know and understand our clients want and need’ involved. And of course a lot of dare to just start designing a website based on a brand identity of style direction, iteration by iteration.

  • A tight-knit team of focused individuals
  • Full time (that’s 35hrs for us)
  • Relaxed office hours
  • Continuous growth framework
  • Amazing projects to work on
  • € 2250 - 3250 / month

About you

About you...
You think of websites, slide decks and even User Interfaces as brand touch points. That means you share our sentiment that every single (digital) piece of collateral should carry and convey a brand and not the other way around.

If there’s one thing you love doing it’s taking a brand strategy or identity and turn it into an scrumptious digital product with the input from clients and peer in the back of your mind.
You’re comfortable hopping from one design idea onto the next just to see if it works. And if it doesn’t, you know you gave it your all but it just didn’t have the right look and feel we aimed for together. Basically you’re not afraid to kill your darlings.
You know your way around in Figma when it comes to designing User Interfaces and websites. Design Systems are not new to you. You’ve created or at least used or updated Design Systems before. Of course you understand why they exist and how they’re vital to any medium to large design project.

Speaking of Figma; you’re very aware of when to use Figma and when not to. When you plan on doing some ideating, you might prefer a pencil and a piece of paper to just doodle away into the sunset. Although you have done your fair share of brand and logo design you also love seeing everything come together in a digital product. Whether that’s a website, a web app or a slide deck.

In short, you’ll
  • help set up and edit design systems
  • (learn to) use and embrace Atomic Design methodology
  • turn client’s mission into brand identities with your team
  • design websites and web or mobile apps from scratch
  • use a brand or style direction to turn an empty canvas into a design

What we need from you
  • Mastery of the Dutch & English (written) language
  • 3+ years of experience with web design (websites and UIs)
  • A portfolio that has both branding work and web design
  • Basic understanding of Design Systems
  • Sufficient knowledge of Figma
