Visual design internship

At Verve, we want to rock the (design) world. Together we’ll create amazing work that you can be truly proud of.

About the job

As a Visual Design Intern at Verve
You are a crucial part of the team that provides a fresh pair of eyes on our projects. You have a curious mind and the ambition to turn your wildest design dreams into reality.

About the job
What's it like to work for a top-notch European design agency? You’re about to find out. During your internship at Verve, you’ll develop your digital design skills across brand identities, websites and campaigns. We eat design for breakfast and develop so-called living brands like Dutch Design Week, Theater Rotterdam and De Vegetarische Slager.

We have one desk ready for the best-matching student. You’ll work with us for a period of 5 months for 32-40 hours a week, partly in The Hague (when measures allow) and partly remote. The exact starting date will be in September 2021, to be determined together with you.

What to expect?
We believe in doing good by branding better. At Verve, we want to rock the (design) world - and we’d like to do that alongside nice, talented people like you. Our team of 20+ designers, developers and strategists transforms good brands into great ones. You’ll be treated to a design masterclass during your stay at Verve, and will contribute to projects from start to finish. Together we’ll create work that you can be truly proud of, while you enjoy the best possible kick-start of your career.

About you

Who are you?
You’re an ambitious student at an Art Academy or University (of Applied Sciences), ready to trade fictitious brands for real ones. You believe that brand identities should successfully work across multiple touchpoints and platforms: from a banner on Facebook to an out-of-home poster. Your portfolio shows great examples of digital as well as offline solutions. You know your way around the Adobe programs, have an eye for detail and the drive to translate ideas into projects.

You have…
experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, InVision, creating interaction models, (prior) knowledge of programming languages and technical opportunities, are able to communicate in English and Dutch and have some solid internship goals to work towards.

Portfolio tips from Rindor - Creative Director Verve:
We often hear that potential interns are nervous about applying for an internship at Verve. But we don’t bite! We receive a lot of internship applications, but not all of them suit our agency. A good match between your personality and our team and studio is our top priority. That’s why we’ve listed some tips below.
  • Create a digital portfolio. We’re big fans of comprehensive portfolio websites, as it gives us a good impression of your work so far. Stay away from WeTransferlinks with a due date or large PDF-files, as we might miss out on these.
  • Less is more. No need to see every single project you’ve done, so choose wisely. Why does this project define you as a designer? What challenges did you overcome? What was your approach? Make sure your best 3-4 projects get the space they deserve.
  • Be conceptual and specific at the same time. We understand the value of concepts very well, but working for a design agency is different from design academy. We prefer seeing one solid case from start to finish over many concepts.
But that’s not all. We want to get to know you: your vision on design, why you’ve selected Verve, and how you’d like to develop yourself during your internship. Make sure to include an exciting motivation that sets you apart.

Ready to write design history?
Share your digital portfolio and motivation letter (no WeTransfer-links or PDFs over 10MB) via the form below. Questions? Feel free to give us a call on 070-7851734 and ask for Floor de Vries. We can’t wait to hear from you.
