Crafting a frictionless experience with your product designs for smart workplaces in the world

About the job

How will organizations know how much office space they need? And how can they foster a healthy and social company culture? About one-third of human life is spent working. Currently, the office and the way we use it are in the middle of a massive transformation. A hybrid working model will be the future; on average, people will spend two days per week working from home, the office will be a buzzing place where teams connect and collaborate. Many exciting challenges are waiting to be solved. With technology, organizations will be able to support flexible use of the office, the sharing of spaces, and increase productivity. However, just adding technology like thousands of sensors to a building doesn’t guarantee a good user experience.

You will join our design team that makes a big impact on our company. That means we do a broad set of design activities ranging from brand to product for which we collaborate closely with other disciplines like development, data-science, marketing, customer success and support. As team we take up these activities together or individually. Either way your focus will be on product related design challenges.

As a product designer you’ll work across the whole user journey that we support with our products. How do employees start their day, what do they need whenever they feel overwhelmed by their work environment, and which location or modality is right to convey the information they need?

 Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Work across experiences on personal and public devices, from small to big screens;
  • Design for our existing products: mobile app, web app, kiosks, room displays and narrowcasting interfaces;
  • Design flows, prototypes, wireframes, navigation patterns and guidelines for consistency between our products;
  • Design detailed UIs with excellent layout, typography, spacing and transitions to deliver high quality products which work flawlessly with complex IOT systems and IT integrations;
  • Pick up design projects to improve the way users discover our products and onboard them at scale;
  • Interview people to uncover insights on what they need in the workplace context and how our product delivers on that. Explore ways to strengthen our position in the daily habits of our users and find new opportunities for Mapiq;
  • Validate your designs with users to smooth out usability issues and to make sure the product makes the impact you aimed for;
  • Improve our design team’s workflow with your previous experience!

About you

Who are we looking for?

We try to keep it realistic, but if we must describe our perfect candidate, it would be someone with 4+ years of experience in the Product Design industry, who understands the SaaS environment and stands behind our mission to build great places to work.

  • This isn’t the first time you’ve faced these challenges. A track record in multiple shipped projects or products, for desktop and mobile experiences is what we are looking for;
  • You’re a specialist in UX design & prototyping;
  • You have a fascination for human behavior and a good set of user research skills;
  • You make a compelling story around the design decisions you’ve made using words, visuals or prototypes to persuade people in and outside the company;
  • You like to navigate the scrum process with engineers about the tech stack;
  • Knowledge on iOS, Android and web interaction patterns;
  • Bonus points if you have skills in either information architecture, 3D visuals, or web/app development;
  • Available for 36–40 hours per week, in Delft and of course sometimes from home;
  • Authorized to work in The Netherlands.
We are working in an industry that is going sky high, and we wouldn’t be able to keep up without the talented people we have at Mapiq. We always strive to hire people that bring their own ideas, background and culture to raise the bars with us.

What to expect?

  • A lot of impact and responsibility with your designs for Mapiq because of the freedom and ownership over your projects
  • An inspirational and fast-growing international work environment
  • A company that cares about your wellbeing
  • A team of talented and driven colleagues
  • Fun! We love our jobs and work hard, but we know how to play hard too; we can come into the office more often but remain very flexible towards remote working. Our bi-weekly bootcamps are back, the quarterly meetings are fun and outside of the office, and of course we have our board game nights
  • 25 days of annual paid leave
  • A solid pension-plan
  • Competitive pay – of course, no one really knows what that means. To us it means that we pay you what seems fair to us, looking at your current experience and skills. We’ll discuss salary during the very first talk we have with you to make sure you know what to expect.

Join us!

Feel like you have been reading a description of yourself? Come join us! The only thing we need you to do is to leave your thoughts on the job as well as your CV with us. We will review your application and invite you for a call with our Recruiter Frouke if we think there could be a match. After this, you can expect two rounds: one virtually and one at the office. A business case might be part of one of the two interviews.
