Digital Product Designer

A designer with a focus on interaction design who will work on all of our digital products for the connected workplace experience.

About the job

Sometimes you’re called a UX designer, interaction designer or visual designer. At Mapiq you’ll be a product designer with a focus on interaction design, who will be making an impact across all of our digital products for the connected workplace experience. Join us in crafting a frictionless experience that employees will have in some of the most beautiful and technologically sophisticated workplaces in the world, pushing ideas to implementation and iteration.

As a product designer you’ll work across the whole user journey that we support with our products. How do employees start their day, what do they need whenever they feel overwhelmed by their work environment and which location or modality is right to convey the information they need? On one hand it’s about crafting sensible UI’s for our existing products and making sure it works flawlessly with complex IOT systems and IT integrations. On the other hand, it’s about exploring new opportunities for Mapiq. Whether it’s a new touchpoint or a solution space, you will explore ways to strengthen our position in the daily habits of our users.

You will join our design team that makes a big impact on our company, as we have a lot of authority on the direction of Mapiq. That means we do a broad set of design activities ranging from brand to product for which we collaborate closely with other disciplines like development, marketing, customer success and support. As team we take up these activities together or individually. Either way your focus will be on product related design challenges.

  • Work across experiences on personal and public devices, from small to big screens.
  • Design for our existing products: mobile app, web app, kiosks, room displays and narrowcasting interfaces.
  • Design flows, wireframes, navigation patterns and guidelines for consistency between our products.
  • Design detailed UI’s with excellent layout, typography, spacing and transitions to deliver high quality products.
  • Work together with developers (front-end, back-end, web, mobile), data scientists and sensor specialists to find out what’s possible and how to implement your design.
  • Pick up design projects to improve the way users discover our products and onboard them at scale.
  • Validate your designs with users to smooth out usability issues and to make sure the product makes the impact you aimed for.
  • Collaborate with research colleagues to uncover insights on what people need in the workplace context and how our product delivers on that.

About you

  • Available for 36–40 hours per week.
  • Contributed to multiple shipped projects or products, for desktop and mobile experiences.
  • Have an outstanding portfolio that showcases your interaction design, prototyping and user research skills.
  • Can make a compelling story around the design decisions you’ve made using words, visuals or prototypes to persuade people in and outside the company.
  • Know how to talk with engineers about the tech stack and are able to navigate the scrum process.
  • Knowledge on iOS, Android and web interaction patterns and how they evolve.
  • Skills to keep your own projects on track, as you’ll have a lot of freedom and ownership over the projects you do.
  • Can build on your experience in other design teams to add your bit to improving our design team’s workflow.
  • Bonus points if you have skills in either information architecture, 3D visuals, or web/app development.
